As a volunteer at The Good Box, your help makes a true difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness. We provide boxes full of essentials (shampoo, canned goods, clothes etc.) to provide care, connection and support with dignity.

We are in need of volunteers for term 2 of 2026!
We go through a screening process for our volunteers and those most suitable will be chosen.
For our term 2 volunteers intake (Aug-Dec), applications will close at 5pm on the 7th of Aug 2026.
Volunteer sessions can happen Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 5:30pm - 7:30pm - depending on the need, your Volunteer Team Lead will keep you updated each week for the day that is required.
The Job:
- Packing items into these boxes (check www.thegoodbox.com.au to find out more!)
- Sorting/Organising stock in the space / general cleaning
- If you feel comfortable, being in our fun social media videos
- There are also extra roles needed that pop up from time to time like deliveries and pick up of donations throughout Brisbane as well as assisting us at corporate events.
- Assisting at sponsored events
- Christmas fundraising phone calls

- November / December - Christmas Packs / Fundraising calls
Your commitment:
- Willing to make friends within the community! You’ll become a part of the TGB family.
- Willing to assist with adhoc events.

Here at The Good Box, our volunteers are the backbone of the organisation and part of the family. We simply would not be able to do what we do without them!
Our 3 main values at The Good Box are: collaboration, respect and integrity. We are looking for volunteers to assist in a variety of ways including collecting, sorting, logging, delivering donations and liaising with our Charity partners. We are also looking for volunteers to provide leadership in their community, promote our charity to their local community, assist to coordinate key events, and assist with grant applications.
As a Good Box volunteer, you determine when and how you volunteer to suit your lifestyle. Across the year, we have four key drives (March-May, June, August, and November-December), and this is our busiest time for our volunteer community.
You can elect to be involved for certain drives, campaigns/events, or put your hand up for a more specialised volunteer role.
If life gets too busy, you can take a step back and jump back in when it suits you!
On average, our volunteers dedicate 3-5 hours per week during our drives.

As a volunteer with The Good Box, you can choose where you want to work. Our physical storage spaces are currently in Ormond (Melbourne) and Hendra (Brisbane) where donations and storage is kept, however we work with communities all over Melbourne and Brisbane.
